Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is currently the president and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. The California native Buss was raised in an upper class family. Jerry Buss' father was an entrepreneur in real estate who was later a part owner of the Lakers and various other sports organizations. Her parents parted ways in 1972 and she began to feel emotionally left behind. As a 19-year-old, she took over the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as General Manager. The team was later renamed the Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. She also served as head of the Great Western Forum before assuming the position of vice president of the Lakers. Buss, her five siblings and brothers as well as their father who owned the Lakers and controlled them until the time of his death in 2013, took over the ownership via the trust. Each of them had equally the right to vote. She assumed the office of the president for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is the owner of Women of Wrestling in Los Angeles the organization which promotes pro wrestling.
