Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born at Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her after the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors as well as editors. Ryder is a Jewish. Ryder believes that her father was from a Jewish origin. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents relocated her and her siblings into Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. There was no electricity. Ryder would read extensively because of the lack of television. At the age of twelve, Ryder enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. She landed her debut role on the big screen in 1986 at the age of 15 old. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. She hoped that the acting profession would change this. Sadly, this didn't occur. But that didn't stop her following her dreams. Beetlejuice, a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her debut big breakthrough. Ryder continued to play numerous roles that were successful. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated in the Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part in The Age of Innocence.
